More than performance
Help athletes recognise their strengths, values and identity beyond their sporting results.
Athlete Development & Transition
Sport develops discipline, resilience, teamwork and ambition. But young athletes also need the confidence, guidance and practical tools to turn those experiences into opportunities for their future.
Next Chapter Sport helps young athletes explore what's next, develop beyond performance and take purposeful steps towards life beyond the game.
Supporting athletes. Developing people. Building futures.

For young athletes, sport can shape identity, ambition, friendships and daily life. Yet conversations about education, careers, transferable skills and future opportunities can sometimes take a back seat to performance.
Whether an athlete continues competing, pursues a different route or begins to reconsider their ambitions, they deserve support to recognise their strengths and prepare for what comes next.
Next Chapter Sport exists to help make those conversations practical, positive and purposeful.
Help athletes recognise their strengths, values and identity beyond their sporting results.
Explore education, employment and future pathways using the skills developed through sport.
Turn reflection into practical actions, realistic goals and a personal plan for moving forward.
Our Flagship Programme
An eight-week athlete development and transition programme.
The Next Chapter helps young footballers explore who they are beyond the pitch, recognise the strengths they have developed through sport, and take practical steps towards their future.
Through guided discussions, structured exercises, reflection and action planning, participants develop a clearer understanding of their options and how to begin pursuing them.
The eight-week format shown is the intended structure, subject to final development and pilot testing. Programme content can be adapted to the needs of each cohort and organisation.

Our Approach
We believe the skills developed through sport can have value far beyond competition. The right support can help young athletes recognise those strengths and apply them to new challenges and opportunities.
Understand identity, values, strengths and ambitions.
Discover options, opportunities and possible pathways.
Build confidence, transferable skills and self-awareness.
Turn ideas into goals and practical next steps.
Our approach combines lived sporting experience, mentoring, guided reflection and practical action planning — giving athletes space to think honestly about where they are and the structure to decide where they want to go.
Mentoring supports exploration and decision-making. It does not replace specialist careers advice, mental health support or other professional services where those are needed — and we encourage athletes to access them.

About the Founder
Next Chapter Sport was founded by Joe Arnold, whose experience across playing, coaching, personal training and mentoring has shaped his belief that developing as an athlete should also mean developing as a person.
Joe played football for Swindon Town and Derby County and represented Wales at youth level. He studied at the University of Bath on a football scholarship and holds the UEFA B coaching qualification.
His coaching experience includes Southampton FC and Eastleigh Town FC. Alongside his work as a personal trainer and coach, he has also mentored young offenders in a prison setting, delivering fitness sessions and supporting personal development.
These experiences have given Joe insight into the discipline, identity, challenges and opportunities associated with sport, as well as the importance of helping people recognise their potential beyond a single role or outcome.
Next Chapter Sport brings those experiences together in a practical programme designed to help young athletes reflect on their strengths, explore their options and take ownership of their future.
Because the person you become matters just as much as the player you are.
For Organisations
Clubs, academies and educational organisations play an important role in athlete development. Next Chapter Sport aims to work alongside those organisations to create structured opportunities for young people to reflect on their future, develop transferable skills and explore pathways beyond playing.
The Next Chapter is designed as a programme that can be delivered to groups and adapted to an organisation's context and needs. Partnership discussions can explore cohort delivery, workshops, programme adaptation and future delivery options.
If you work with young athletes and would like to explore a programme or partnership, we'd welcome a conversation.
Programme Aims
These are the intended areas of development for participants — aims of the programme, not guaranteed outcomes.
